Pros

-Great team (came in through an acquisition) -Flex Time PTO policy -Intelligent colleagues -Benefits package is impressive

Cons

-Teamwork across teams is slow and requires going through a ton of hoops -Typical big company mentality, which can be a turn off at times.

Advice to Management

Become more agile and integrate all of your previous acquisitions into a streamlined product line.

    Pros

    One of the pros to working at Spotfire were my colleagues and peers. We all identified that there was no formal system in place to get things done (even though this is a public company!) and we managed to pull through every time. As a team.

    Cons

    Alignment is an illusion. From products and services to management there is no unity. One hand does not know what the other is doing, and will not communicate it even if they are in the same building.

    Advice to Management

    Get out from behind your desks and talk to your people. Stop managing through email. And when you do manage, do not repeat what someone told you who has no experience with what they are dictating (ie. sales). Learn from your people who are doing the legwork, report that feedback up the chain and have a dialogue with peers and upper management. The biggest problem this company has is communication. It's a publicly traded corporation... fix it!

    Pros

    Great people, good culture and excellent technology. Flat hierarchy enabling one to make an effect on the bottom line.

    Cons

    Poor organization structures, marketing group does poor job of brand recognition outside key verticals and no real career path unless you are at the HQ.

    Advice to Management

    Need to build a support structure to enable vertical solutions
