I have been working at TIMCO Aviation full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Laid back atmosphere and great place to learn multiple aircraft types. The people are the best part. Incredible teamwork. Management cares about its people and have taken great steps towards improving pay and benefits.

Cons

Changes do not always occur as quickly as I would like. Management sees and solicits feedback from employees on how to make things better but changes do not always happen quickly enough.

Advice to Management

Continue on the current path and remember the importance of the people working on the floor.

I have been working at TIMCO Aviation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There truly are some great people at TIMCO, they are few and far between but they are there. The environment is very relaxed almost to the point of making you lazy. If you want an opportunity to learn and are willing to invest the time the experienced mechanics that are left at TIMCO are a great resource for you.

    Cons

Upper management makes it far to clear that getting the work done quickly is more important than doing it right. The pressure placed on mechanics to "just get it done" can be overwhelming for those not willing to stand-up to their boss and refuse to do sub-par maintenance. Combine this pressure with the fact TIMCO is loosing their most qualified mechanics at an alarming rate and they have a recipe for disaster as they are hiring more and more inexperienced people and providing little or no guidance to these new hires. Add to all of their other problems the pay and benefits. They have no no official pay scales to determine adequate pay, and the benefits package provided is worse than what you would receive as a circus performer. It is only because of a bad economy that TIMCO has been able to remain open because they offer cheap maintenance by unskilled workers that they do not have to pay well.

    Advice to Management

TIMCO has recently created a retention committee to try to understand why they are loosing people so quickly. The easy answer is pay and benefits. Additionally employees are who make you the money, if you continue to destroy moral and push them away you will have no more skilled mechanics and only the minimum wage ones you have been hiring as of late. Good mechanics are not cheap.
