Current Employee - Merchandise/Sales Associate in Auburn, ME

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-good coworkers who have your back
-managers are like a random hand of cards - some good, some bad
    -some nice regular customers
-once in a while you'll find some merchandise you'll really like, and you can snag it
-breaks (excluding lunch breaks) are paid

    Cons

-schedule and hours can be very contrasting week to week if you don't set specific availability
-some managers are distant and view employees as pawns to get work done
-"training" or really, lack thereof. you'll get a basic rundown and then have to fend for yourself, and then sometimes get scolded for doing something wrong.
-no continuity between different managers, you'll learn to act and work differently under different managers, which isn't really right.
    -work can be menial

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish continuity, realize some people don't know as much as others, cut down on gossip, be patient.
