Pros

There is a high level of job security, provided you follow the programs and policies and do not promote yourself loudly.

Cons

The operations area generates the revenue but the respect for the line management is not where it should be. The senior management does not always provide the tools for growth and the guidelines that are set are not always based in real store working dynamics.

Advice to Management

There seems to be little upward advancement for field personnel. There is some excellent talent that is not utilized and some politically connected middle management and regional personel that seem to be out of touch with their line subordinates. To much CYA for visits and wasteful spending in some areas while other are not addressed.

    Pros

    Money, the atmosphere is dead. The company is diversification crazy--to the point of reverse discrimination. The training is good at the corporate level. The main issue is the store level. If you are new, you have to fight to learn merchandising. The knowledge is closely held by underpaid supervisors.

    Cons

    Over promising and under delivering. They will claim quality of life as important and not show it in actions. The company is notorious for turnover. It is sad but the payroll issue is not handled well at all. The overpromising at the beginning is out of line. It would be better to know the truth in advance. When a company has to lie to get associates, there is no chance they will stay long at all.

    Advice to Management

    Be Honest. Be fair. Let someone know where they stand in terms of upward mobility. Track progress.

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers, interesting tasks, company positioned to do well in good or bad times given the segment it is in

    Cons

    High levels of parinoia in the security area. Uses a "belt and suspenders" approach to access the facilities when the thing they should be concentrating on is protecting the companies finacial and customer data, thats not to say they aren't but when seeing how much they are wasting on the physical access security it does cause one to wonder what they are thinking.

    Advice to Management

    Start looking at the operational impact of the changes that are being done by the security team in the name of upper management. A large number of which have precious little do do with protecting the corporate data and even less with protecting customer data and their cumulative effect is to cut into the productivity of the people that make this company run.
