I have been working at TMK full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Solid company and earnings with forward growth practices. Corporate management strives for a professional environment. IT management is workable and small enough to get decisions made quickly. Departments work well together and is team-driven. Co-worker morale is high and personal. IT budget is large and helps keep technology and applications current for increased productivity. Open door policy with Directors and above.

Cons

The merger of TMK and IPSCO companies years back have left some gaps in IT with policies. Growth in this area has been slow, but proves to be challenging work to build from the ground up. Due to the small size of the company and small IT department, advancement is limited. Ramped up staff two-fold within a year, but then moved entire operation to TX.

    Pros

If you want oil & gas experience on your resume, the company will hire anyone regardless of background or industry knowledge (which is extremely evident in top management).

    Cons

The E-suite has no concept of what business they are in. Due to the lack of experience and training in the oil & gas industry, most managers put up smoke screens to hide their incompetence. I doubt anyone at the manager level or above could pass a basic course in ethics....the professors would quickly grow tired of hearing "but that's not how it is done at TMK-IPSCO"! The blame game is rampant in this organization. Not a place you want to stay....just get enough experience to move on to many better companies that are out there. Ask why their average employee tenure is less than three years. Also ask what their average employee turnover rate is. If they are honest, they will will tell you some of their facilities average 60+% turnover of personnel annually (this is not a seasonal business). Moscow will grow tired of this lack of management competence and will make some wholesale changes in the organization sooner rather than later. Once the Russian take over the US operations, this organization may have a chance to survive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to read a resume and actually do a background investigation. Do your people even have the credentials and certifications they claim to have? An MBA from a unaccredited, mail-order, for profit university is not the same as an MBA from a respected university the person actually had to put some time into earning. This is an over-sized start-up business. The E-suite needs to actually spend TIME at the facilities to see what is truly going on. Trying to run this operation from the comfort (or safety) of your office does not work. Do more than the obligatory annual walk through and royal wave to the employees.

    Pros

Good paycheck when there is work. Company is trying to build a safety culture at work place.

    Cons

Compulsory over time, All about production, Safety is like an after thought. Some people come to work, so as not to work, if that makes any sense People sit openly in break rooms with they phones watching u-tube, netflixs, playing games, facebook chatting. while others work, not fair on the people who do work. To many cry babies who have never worked a day in there life's....... attitude of company vs employees. some sabotage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The safety culture that the company is trying so hard to implement to the employees, try staring it with the supervisors 1st !!!. Most of them are trying so hard to be kool and popular, and turn a blind eye to all the rules that have been implemented, or begin implemented.
My guess, Safety was a dirty word, till TMK took over. They raised to be where there are without any safety. Never experience the industry changing its attitude towards safety Mind set needs to be changed.
