I have been working at TRUSTe full-time

    Pros

    - Great work-life balance
    - Privacy is a hot field and TRUSTe is a leading name
    - Snack area focused on healthy snacks
    - Most people are friendly and easy to get along with

    Cons

    - Extremely cheap on compensation and benefits
    - Many employees (including management and executive) who everyone acknowledges are useless are allowed stay for years
    - Unfocused future business plans cause routine stumbles
    - Executives are very disconnected from front-line employee reality due to culture of secrecy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your front line employees. Get rid of those (including VPs) who cannot handle their job.

    I worked at TRUSTe full-time

    Pros

Entrepreneurial environment, fast moving, leader in its space. Company is finally on the right track with new management in 2010.

    Cons

Founder of company was not fit to lead the company and held back company's progress for many years as many actions were taken to satisfy her ego rather than what was the best for the company.

Unfortunately, it caused several talented people to leave out of frustration and many people to be in leadership positions that were simply not competent further hurting the company and its employees who had to deal with dis functional politics, changing priorities and functions being pitted against each other instead of working together.

Pay (for non Sales staff) was well below market; hopefully it has improved by now

Run, don't walk away from any other company the founder may be associated with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be bold enough to make changes sooner; be careful to not hire just those you know from another life (creating a clique and alienating the staff) but those that bring a diversity of experience and perspectives.
