Pros

Their mission statement actually means something. It's not just a plaque on the wall. The founder and management team, really do care about their employees, both professionally and personally. Stabile company that doesn't lay off a bunch of people whenever there is a downturn. Great industry to be in for the long hall.

Cons

IT systems are dated, though they seem to be talking about improvements. Career planning and development is not formalized and therefore, inconsistent.

Advice to Management

Formalize career plan and development for employees. Give your top talent a clear path towards their goals.

I have been working at TTI Texas full-time

    Pros

The company has many people who have worked there for ten years on up so lots of experienced, tenured folks. The company is open to requests for relocation, position changes, etc. It's a good company to work for if you're focused on a steady paycheck.

    Cons

It's not a very progressive, innovative company. I found that most co-workers and managers were content to do things "the way it has always been done". Also, the paths for growth and promotion were limited. There were only a few main functional areas (operations, sales or product management) from which to move around and sometimes tenure speaks louder than abilities. You have to proactively establish and push your own career path. While some managers were better than others at mentoring and providing performance reviews, there lacked a cohesive, consistent corporate process for employee growth and development. I only received two formal performance reviews in five years.

    Advice to Management

Middle management seems to be consumed with short term goals and fire fighting. Prioritize time each day to the long term success and development of your employees and organization. Also, I was often talked to - communication was one way. I'd suggest more two way communication (i.e. 360 performance review). Lastly, challenge yourself and your staff to cultivate an environment of continuous learning and improvement. The status quo is not the only way to do things.

I have been working at TTI Texas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice employees Great for those who want to work 8-5 Job security Great opportunities for those without college degrees

    Cons

Benefits No room for advancement Management is secretive about everything almost to the point that it's "shady" No performance reviews till recently Pay

    Advice to Management

Reward employess based on performance not tenure (hence performance reviews). Make sure you recognize and keep your stars aka pay them or someone else will. Management needs to be more open with their employees. Noticed that they will disregard employees who have been top performers for years and then when one bad year comes around they expect them to live off base salary which is a joke. (Advice: what's one year guarantee to keep a great employee vs. him/her leaving for the competition only to later steal business worth 10x this.) Pay is beyond horrible for the amount of money brought in. They tell everyone pay raises come from selling more. Cut commission rates after a great year to cap you. They have very intelligent young professionals who could really strive in the company if given the opportunity and given responsibility but they choose to ignore them and then they all leave hence why the college training program has been a flop.
