After over 18 years in the staffing industry, Founder and CEO Kathleen Quinn Votaw realized that the traditional business model was broken, was outdated, and didn’t always act in the best interest of companies or job candidates. Kathleen founded TalenTrust in 2003 and resolved to completely disrupt the status quo and address the weaknesses of traditional staffing/recruiting. She envisioned much more than a typical search firm. Nearly ten years later, the company has become a nationwide provider of strategic outsourced recruiting and grown to a team of 15 people with annual revenues approaching $2 million. The company has thrived and grown dramatically (nearly 250% over the past 3 years), despite the recent economic downturn. Kathleen and her team have created a proven, defined process that drives the talent acquisition and human capital needs of small- and mid-size businesses

Leadership and values:

    Pros

    The business model is truly innovative and compelling to employees and clients. The work environment is very flexible and allows teams a lot of autonomy to manage clients and deliverables. Expectations are high as the level of service expected by clients is nothing less than outstanding. For the person with the right attitude and aptitude to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment this is a great place to build a career with significant opportunities for growth.

    Cons

    The business is small and growing quickly so there are inherent uncertainties and modifications of strategy which is not uncommon for a business at this stage. This type of business is not for everyone. If you are unable to be flexible, innovative and adaptable to change you will not do well in this environment.

    Continue to care about your employees and focus on building a strong lasting culture that challenges employees to be their best and deliver great service to clients. Keep the communication open and transparent with both the good and the bad. Great visionary leadership. Provide increased opportunities for face to face interactions with team.
