I worked at Talisman Energy as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

-tons of training courses to take
    -people are generally nice
    -compensation
    -location of the Calgary office
-bistro on 34th fl in the Calgary office

    Cons

    -employees are disposable
-managers do not know how to grow or develop their employees
-decreases employee morale based on favouritism
-too much work with no significant purpose or value
    -no clear vision
-HR has no idea what they are doing and do not practice what they preach at all
-no place for advancement unless you are considered their "superstar" (then those people get everything)
-too many useless and unproductive meetings that end up draining everybody
-too much change that doesn't seem to ever get anywhere positive
    -high turnover
-does not help employees try to reach their potential because everyone is too focused on office politics and trying to climb up the corporate ladder for themselves
    -will disregard their entry-level employees
-too many VP's that do not seem to know how to lead a team, all they have are their egos
-management only values "work horses" who can sit and work, work, work with no voice
-not a good place if you want to be in a creative, supportive, entrepreneurial environment
-they do not know how to recognize real talent and let go of great people with tons of potential

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Take care of your people no matter what level they are at. Your job is to help them grow and develop. Do not favourite certain individuals over others- be fair. Also, provide opportunities for your employees to increase motivation at work.
