I have been working at Taos full-time for less than a year

Pros

Professional, good clientiele, numerous opportunities, Good training, benefits.

Cons

Tough negotiators, They go with the bottom of your expected salary range and will not negotiate much.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think of employees as associates and not commodities for trading. Maintain a decent margin on the rate not try to milk the customer for the consultant on site. Instead reward the consultant with a better rate.

Treats employees as disposable, no job security

I worked at Taos full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you are a "consultant" billing at a client site and have a hot tech skill you can negotiate a good salary.

    Cons

As a consultant its rare to get paid "bench" time so you are unpaid between assignments and can be laid off at any moment if they can't sell you.

As an internal your job security is non existent. If you question something you are laid off. If you do not do exactly as told even if you are uncomfortable with it you are laid off. If you do not keep in with the right exec you are laid off. If the exec team changes "strategy" and then doesn't know how to effectively use your team - your whole team is laid off. With no notice or prior indication there was a problem and no caring that hard working /loyal people who sometimes moved for the company are left without anything but a small unemployment check. The CEO still has his mansion and his Jaguar etc.

Culture of arrogance right from the top. Example: CEO Ric Urrutia thinks reviews of his company are worth nothing, nobody reads them and they don't affect someone's decision to go work at Taos . Its a typical family owned dictatorship and more reminiscent of a royal court or Washington DC government (aka The West Wing) than a company ran on good business decisions based on facts.

Avoid, you will be burned out within months with no energy to try and find another job until you lose the one you have at Taos.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Taos is getting a bad reputation. Take note of this and stop thinking its not true. Stop the disposable people culture, show some respect for your employees.

How this company can still claim it's a premium brand mystifies me. And yet companies pay their rates!

I worked at Taos full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Better-than-average pay rates. Access to some of the smartest people. Frequently changing client list and work opportunities. For a straightforward contract opportunity, they make it very easy.

    Cons

Poor management decisions and communication to consultants. "Sales" approach when dealing with employees trying to keep them working with Taos. Dishonest and misleading communications to clients frequently in a "fake it until you make it" approach. Limited "bench" opportunities means you have to accept a role you don't want, just to get paid, and then can't be pulled off for the job you actually want or are qualified for. Catch-22.
