Target seems like it values it's employees less than in the past.

Pros

Flexible work schedules Offers Benefit Packages & 401k Match Many locations to transfer to if you would ever want or need

Cons

Target is bringing in more and more talent straight out of college to run it's stores. Opportunities to advance within the company are less available. Employees looking for advancement are not considered as desirable as fresh out of college grads. At the store level as a team member you will be expected to do many different job centers to get more hours.

Advice to Management

It feels like Target does not value Team Members or Executives with experience. It appears they want to get rid of anyone they think is making too much money so they can replace them with someone making the bare minimum. Please value knowledgeable assets to the Target team and show your appreciation for their hard work through monetary compensation to improve morale.

    Pros

Free food in the break room, they hardly hassle you if you need time off.

    Cons

Favoritism in management, it gets annoying.

    Advice to Management

Recognize team members when theyre doing a good job, not just when they fail.

    Pros

Good job security. Good pension when they had it.

    Cons

Good job security and most people knew it was hard to get fired so one of two things typically happened. The person would go belly up and nothing, or find a nice "political" position and do again nothing. Belly up wouldn't get a raise but didn't care, "political" position people got promoted and got raises. Very frustrating when you are the one tasked to accomplish something and surrounded by all the dead weight. As with any corporation you have politics, but here it of a magnitude greater. Management is a joke at Property Development (or what ever they call it now) and HR are a bunch of recent college grads with no clue. Kind of a strange circus. If you looking to slide along and are good at smoothing the Boss you can get to easy street. If you are serious about your career then by all means STAY AWAY.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at what your people and what they actually do if anything. If you are one of the managers looking to build some kind of empire by a body count under you....well shame on you as you are doing the shareholders of Target a great disservice and should be shown the door.
