I have been working at Target part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Your fellow team members are overall good people. They will help you if you ask for it and are overall. The stores are not too bad, it depends on your location, which will help determine the rush that you have during the store hours. I believe usually Friday and Saturday would be their busiest days during the week, since everyone is off work on Saturdays normally (the corporate, white-collar workers).

Cons

Some of the Team Leaders (Senior and Executive) can be a bit over-demanding on what they expect from you, especially to those who are Part-Time/Seasonal workers. They should realize that only those who are Full-Timers and those that would like to continue long-term should be the ones to be pushed to work harder and smarter to get certain tasks done more quickly and to help drive up sales. Seasonal workers don't feel the need to do that since they don't get any added incentives for doing so, as well as the knowledge that they could get easily replaced and it's not really worth working so hard in order to get meager pay and benefits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more incentives for Seasonal workers to ensure that they work harder and smarter to help your sales go up during the holiday times. You're wasting too much money and time to keep running through interviews in order to help fill up the store hours, which cuts into your regular Team Members who are looking for hours and those Seasonal Members who might be willing to look into joining your staff as a Full-Time Team Member.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Target is a great place for someone who's new to the workforce to learn. They teach you the right way to do everything, and since it's Target they'll hold you to an even higher standard. There's always opportunities to learn new things that translate easily to the rest of the business world.

    Cons

Target is very rooted in specific ways of operating it's business and what's necessarily right isn't always the best; sometimes it's necessary to do it the wrong way over and over until you can prove that another way is better. Understaffed stores can be an uphill battle any manager at Target will face therefore you must have good planning and organizational skills, and you shouldn't be afraid to get dirty and work with your team members. Despite the fact that it's a great place to learn actually finding the correct training and finding time to do the training can be difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listening and seeking input from hourly team members is crucial to your business and the overall morale of the store team.

I worked at Target part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good people, often autonomous work environments

    Cons

Executives can and will throw you under the bus for their benefit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local HR cannot be bothered for anyone below the executive level, and executive management can be vindictive and favor specific employees with raises and premium work shifts, additional training and supervision is recommended
