Pros

Great place to work, lots of employee recognition, advancement, steady hours, friendly co-workers and they treat their people well. Fun days like Grilled Cheese Day or the Guessing Game week are awesome and help to keep things interesting. Very likely to be cross-trained or work in a variety of areas.

Cons

The pay is rather low and turnover and movement is pretty high, which means your years of experience in a position is rather low, which both a pro and a con.

Advice to Management

Pretty much that the Vibe is working and you really have captured Guest Service and Employee Happiness. Continue to find new ways to build that.

    Pros

Good hours, good people to work with....it's not really stressful at all working when the store is closed is usually pretty fun

    Cons

No full time- but they will give you 39.5 hours if you want it, they don't really train too well but what is there to learn really it''s a retail job

  2. Wonderful people to work with, and the company as far as I can tell is the best of retail. Promotions can be tricky.

    Pros

-AWESOME team member culture and spirit around the stores. I have traveled to a half dozen of the stores in the Utah/Idaho region and the team "spirit" (with lack of a better term) is phenomenal for the most part.
    - Lots of volunteer opportunities for those of you that are interested in making an impact in the community.
    - Competitive pay
    - If you put yourself out there, you WILL be rewarded.
    - WONDERFUL team leaders and executives that will, if you put yourself out there, help you with development.
    - DISCOUNT!
    - An awesome place to use as a stepping stone and develop those skills needed in this competitive job market.

    Cons

Schedule, Schedule, but it is retail after all. Lots of holidays spent leaving early or entirely away from your family.

POLITICS is the name of the game when it comes to promoting sometimes. It's not the execs on the store level, once you have their support (which can be hard enough to gain) but you better be a GREAT BS'er for the group leader.

Benefits, at least from what I can tell in my region, are questionable and insurance policies can fluctuate.

Depending on your area/position, your hours as a team member can be cut year to year, or you could gain hours. Obviously, during the holidays most team members are gaining hours, so word to the wise; work your ass of and prove yourself if you would like hours.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that the Target hierarchy is fully understood for entry-level team members. It appears that team members feel lost when it comes to knowing what to do to move up and get frustrated. It is hard to understand how Target works from a CORPORATE point of view without asking tons of questions...not everyone is like this and need a little helping hand and those team members could be great in bigger positions if given a little direction. Don't make your team members afraid of the "jet", don't show YOUR fear of the "jet", motivate them and don't make them so incredibly worried about how walks go, but motivate them to do the best job they can and be proud with the provided effort. Also, bring the APS position back.
