Pros

The pay rate is okay. Not great.
Occasionally free food, especially during summer holidays.
Sometimes you come across some pretty good deals while you work.

Cons

Get hired for one job, but perform almost every job depending on the area you work in.
Poor communication.
Say flexible schedule but won't stick to your availability
No room for growth.
Always shorthanded.
Only 10% discount.
Poor management.
All positions are part-time despite full time listings.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

somewhat fast, and somewhat friendly service

    Cons

if you enjoy working weekends, holidays, late nights, early mornings, for little to no money then this is the job for you, if you are not interested in career or professional advancement go no further because you have found your dream job, if you like being a slave with a nametag you have found your ideal employment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the majority of the stores frown upon higher education and non-target experience, reverse racism is rampant, create more opportunity for advancement, adjust the pay scale, 5 to 8 year part time employees only make 10 to 20% more than first day employees, and have you heard of this revolutionary concept called a full time employees? many employees are forced to work fulltime hours with absolutely no health or financial benefits, unless you include a discounted 1990's style cell phone and 5$'s off a ymca membership, and a 5% matched 401K after you clocked 1000 hours without a 401K, as significant benefits

I worked at Target part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are very friendly. Customers are mostly very nice. Direct deposit is very helpful. The job is not at all difficult.

    Cons

Pathetic pay, nearly minimum wage. Leads are numerous and none of them seem to follow the same rules or policies leaving employees constantly confused and open to reprimand (in front of customers). Supervisors refuse to follow company policies. Routinely defy EEOC rules and regulations regarding reasonable accommodations for disabled employees. Human Resources also refuses to comply with this federal law. Pressure employees to sign customers up for red cards putting more focus on red card accomplishments and speed of cashiers than they do quality of work and good customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach your leads what the laws are concerning reasonable accommodations. Do not boast of being an "inclusive" company if you're going to ignore disabled employees needs. Make your policies clear to your staff and then enforce those policies.
