Current Employee - Director in Minneapolis, MN
Current Employee - Director in Minneapolis, MN

I have been working at Target full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good pay. Lots of opportunity since there are many low hanging fruit. You dont need to be a genius to make a real difference

Cons

Some of the most insecure people Ive worked with. Many are blundering incompetents especially at the Director level and above. Teams are constantly under delivering on commitments but leaders change the key success factors and declare victory. Culture is staggeringly inefficient and overly collaborative to the point of ineffectiveness. Too many meetings. Calendar stalking is normal. Forced fun is required for leaders....ie you need to do "fun" things with your team even though you may hate them. HR is always in your business, talking to your team and "getting feedback" which they may or may not use against you.

Former Employee - Electrical Engineer in Minneapolis, MN

I worked at Target full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great 401K package, dental benefits. Architects were great to work with.

    Cons

....Engineers not so. Poor and incompetent management on the engineering side. Now I know why engineers shouldn't be managers. HR was something of joke, too young and green, corporate indoctrinated with no real life experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Self excuse (fire) yourself, but I guess you need the money.

Current Employee - Warehouse Worker in Fontana, CA
Current Employee - Warehouse Worker in Fontana, CA

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good schedule, good benefits. Work is simple enough to learn. Responsibility is commiserate to the pay received. Opportunity is available to move to different schedules. Great people to work with.

    Cons

Very physically demanding work, tough working conditions, must have thick skin to deal with management, inconsistent number system is the base of your work performance. Cannot feel good about your work performance unless it matches up with number performance which is not always possible. Uphill battle if seeking to advance your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, watch people work instead of watching computer screens, try to involve yourself in the work so you will understand it better. Have better trust in your teams ability to perform.
