Current Employee - Human Resource Team Member
Current Employee - Human Resource Team Member

I have been working at Target full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Working as a team
Great coworkers
Plenty of opportunities to learn new skills
Flexible scheduling
Plenty of recognition
Company tries to value their employees

Cons

Experience greatly varies depending on the store, the shift, the manager, etc.
Incredibly inconsistent with rules and rampant favoritism
Cliquey environment, especially among management
Attempts to brainwash you into mindless optimism
Questionable ethics
Increasingly unrealistic expectations of an ever-smaller employee base to wring profits
Speed is valued more than quality or accuracy

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more consistent with policies. Don't just make up rules as you go. Pay people based on their performance, not on their seniority. Treat your employees like people. Don't retaliate against people who dare to provide constructive criticism.

I worked at Target full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Tv/Movies in the breakroom sometimes with free food, raises every year, cross training which allows you to pick up more hours in other areas of the store, friendly co-workers, they almost always approve time off requests, most LOD's can be really caring and offer help/advice when you really need it.

    Cons

Clique-ish LOD's (bosses) and co-workers, LOD's have favorite employees and they make it obvious, rarely ever let you go past team lead without a degree.
