Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would be to the very top, as management on a store level has little to no control over this. Increase what you give to your employees. if you want a strong company that provides wonderful service you have to give more than you're currently giving. You can not expect high quality employees if you give them nothing in return. Remember this golden rule, treat your employees right and they'll treat you right.

I worked at Target full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great employee involvement and it truly is a fast, fun, and friendly environment to work in! The pay is great and they are understanding towards college students being on their summer vacation. You get one day off a week, plus alternating weekends off, which is a nice surprise.

    Cons

Retail hours are expected to be worked by interns as well, which is a difficult adjustment to make. The days are long, and your hours are 40 a week, so you get tired very quickly. You're expected to work like an hourly employee, so you have to clock in to work every morning and be sure to follow their strict break schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mentors should try to be more understanding and helpful towards their interns! Pay attention to them and help them out!

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

pay, growth opportunity, unique experiences offered to develop, team members you work with make things fun/less painful

    Cons

hours (70+ hr work weeks depending on who your Store leader is), no work/life balance, need to be on call 24/7, some store leaders do not not care about people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hold poor performers accountable, appreciate the employees who are good, do not work them to he bone because you know they care and can do more
