    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Target full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Big recognizable brand name on your resume, big budgets, very structured environment, opportunities to network with many people

    Cons

backstabbing employees who'll throw coworkers under the bus to advance themselves, big brother surveillance of your every action, you partially pay for your own healthcare, pigeon holed into the department you start in with little opportunity for movement within the organization. Be prepared to work very long hours and only get paid for 40 of them if you're salaried.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to your employees' potential/ expressed interests, listen to where they'd like to apply their strengths and allow them to move into other departments where they can better apply their fortes, or you risk losing talented employees who leave the company to seek growth opportunities elsewhere. Stop promoting people based on favoritism rather than managerial readiness - it's torture working under managers who don't know how to properly manage and develop employees.
