Great Company With structured training program

Former Employee - Operations Manager
Former Employee - Operations Manager

I worked at Target full-time (less than a year)

Pros

company culture, information that is learned and achieved over a short period of time. As well as good compensation and benefits with room for salary negotiation. Company facilities are very tidy and well-kept. Weekly meetings allow you to feel engaged with the business process that is going on. The experience that you receive here is something a lot of people do not encounter at a young age, making this great opportunity to go through.

Cons

Senior Management lack of transparency between employees. Never are seen on the floor, and then provide you with feedback based on hearsay. perception is reality.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less ego, more visibility.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

    Environment
    Team-focused culture
    Exceptional leadership development
    Community involvement
Overall a great first leadership position to have right out of college

    Cons

Work/life balance-to excel and become a top performer you will have to put in more than 50 hours a week (I would advise doing this because it can help you promote or get a better job...but it will burn you out) and you will work a lot during the holidays, sometimes weird hours and you work every other weekend

Limited opportunity to move up unless you can relocate or want to be a store team leader

Work politics- Like many companies, moving up can depend on who you know and who likes you... Someone who does not have a perfect work center can move up before someone with consistently solid results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to simplify tasks so more time can be spent on development and guests

Be more consistent with expectations when it comes to promoting

Continue to streamline communication to drive consistent and concise messages

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Talented team where collaboration is critical to success. Fun place to work with many opportunities to stretch yourself. Ability to work from home.

    Cons

Company has gone from a growing company to a company that is standing still greatly limiting developmental opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hourly employees at headquarters should have better career paths.
