I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services

Pros

Big client names against ur resume. Ability to maintain Relationship with client. Toughness to take any nonsense available in the market. Ethical values and equal opportunity to both males and females.

Cons

bureaucracy, favouritism especially since management is a of particular region. Long projects so same work for ages. No thinking and challenges posted on job. Incompetitive management. No transparency in anything. No communication by management. Performance appreciation totally based on dependency in coming assignment and your ability to keep your manager happy by accepting whatever he says and never expressing any of your views. No freedom to exercise your ideas. Almost no growth and low salaries.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be innovative. Give chance to juniors and young blood. Be open to new ideas. Start acting like a consulting company and not be consulted by your clients of what is the right answer. Start taking more competitive work that will thrive employees to work harder. Invest more in research operations.

I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services

    Pros

It's onsite oppurtunities soon after one joins, makes it a brand for everyone to join and make some money for their future life. If you plan to stay in the same organization and never want to worry about your job, layoffs, etc. this is the ideal company to work with. Expect this company to give you an initial break for experience. Good to work as a fresher for couple of years.

    Cons

    - No good for experienced professionals who are looking for growth into the next technical ladder.
    - Do not expect technical growth with this company. You will make a big mistake in your life.
    - There is no gelling between supervisor and subordinate. They do not work with you. They command you.
    - The supervisors need to make the system more transparent by divulging information about the company to their subordinates. Looks like they themselves are not updated with company dealings and happenings and hence the associates remain ignorant about the facts.
    - As soon as you are done with your "Fresher" status, quit the company and look for something else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have regular coversation with your subordinates. They mean a lot to the organization. You are not the only ones working for the organization. You are the channels to take our voice to the next level.

Great at low cost tech work, lost its way in management consulting, culture hard for Americans to take.

I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services

    Pros

They pay very competitive salaries. If salary is the most important thing to you, this is the place to be.

    Cons

Corporate culture is extremely difficult to navigate at times, and downright impossible at others. Administrative processes for things like travel and expenses are very backward and filled with needless bureaucracy. Senior leadership is often able to get away with impressively disrespectful behavior. Company is still trying to find its way in the USA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire top level management talent for the US, and let them run the US operations for you. Do not try to influence the with the Indian way of management - it does not work here that way. Give them freedom to succeed on their own, and then try to learn the best of what they have and apply it appropriately elsewhere.
