~Stressful job

Advice to Management

You can not work people so much for that pay, you need to find ways to lessen the load of work. Also, they do budget cuts every couple of months, they need to better their production so that the company doesn't lose so much money and then the customer service rep. area has to suffer.

    Pros

Fellow employees were great to work with.
Time off was easy to attain.
Immediate manager was pleasant to work with.
Opportunity to do several responsibilities within my role.
    Casual work environment.

    Cons

Out of state upper management clueless on how to run retail catalog business.
    Long hours, most weekends.
    Not very good technology upgrades.
Poor understanding of cross merchandising and cataloging.
Poor communication from departmental managers down to departmental employees.

    Advice to Management

Combining two different catalog retail companies together without taking in to account how each business operated should have been looked into more thoroughly.
Should treat new employees with more respect. After relocating to new headquarters, not much support or understanding was forthcoming from management and employees at new headquarters.
Corporate management spent a lot of money on system upgrades that either were not warranted or lacked total and complete understanding of the upgrades and how they could work in the first place.
Local headquarters staff trimmed so much that corporate management only allows contract workers to be hired.

Was decent but turned into pure crap with the recession, very family unfriendly, straight up liars.

    Pros

Steady work if it's there. Decent benefits. Plenty of free parking with lots of empty spaces out there. Some opportunity for advancement over time if you will kiss rear ends and absorb all amounts of abuse.

    Cons

Company will straight up lie to everyone's face about what is going on or what is going to happen. Says one thing one week and does something else next week. Local management made to look very bad as they have to puppet - out whatever corporate tells them to do. Very unequal treatment of employees over same-issues....depends on who you are. Spotty recognition of innovations offered and implemented.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying. Do what you say you are going to do. Forget the protestations of "family atmosphere." You wouldn't know a good family if one walked up and bit you on the nose. Reverse the family un-friendly policies. Having to stay out with a sick child should not be an unexcused absence. Nor should being out oneself with quick onset of an illness be an UA. Nobody plans to get sick. Alto Ga. plant now has a HORRIBLE local reputation as a place to work. Moral is lower than a snake's belly in a wagon's rut.
