I have been working at Teach for America full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Teach For America is full of people who are driven and passionate for education. The regional staff teams provide excellent service and support.

Cons

Long hours, tough schools requires Corps Members to really have a passion for what they are doing. If you don't have a passion for education, do something else. Do not apply to TFA if you are looking to build your resume and do something else after, it isn't worth it.

I worked at Teach for America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lots of upward mobility in non-teaching positions, highly educated and motivated colleagues.

    Cons

The organization fundamentally works against the teaching profession by pressuring the best teachers to leave the classroom and work in their office; the organization takes new, barely minted teachers and asked them to be the authority on teaching for even newer and more clueless teachers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure all staff have taught, make sure all people who serve as advisors to teachers have more than just two years of teaching experience

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
