Telcordia – “Good people, interesting work, terrible pay and benefits.”
Pros
Lots of autonomy, loose atmosphere, very smart people. A pleasant place to work as long as you can stay attached to interesting projects and are willing to put up with being significantly underpaid. The annual raises and bonuses are well below industry standards, despite repeated claims from senior management that they are "working on the problem". Employee morale is generally low and there are lots of personnel just waiting in the wings for their "magic date", when they can retire with a full pension.
Cons
Terrible compensation, limited opportunities for career advancement. Not clear if the business is sustainable in the long term.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay employees better, stop cutting benefits, and make sure the employees feel worthwhile.
