Pros

The people are very friendly. It is the type of place where you walk down the hallway and even if you don't know the person, they will greet you. The vacation time is good and the managers can be very flexible. The atmosphere is causal yet professional. They also have different newsletters that keep you up to date with what is going on within the company worldwide. Too, they are willing to hire current college students for co-op and intern positions and if you do a decent job, maybe even full-time work.

Cons

Paying the investors seems to be the biggest priority and not the employees. They try to make up for the so so pay with company perks like "employee appreciation day" and an onsite "gourmet" over priced cafeteria, when all people want is decent pay! Business decisions don't always seem so wise and the CEO doesn't really seem to have a clue regarding what is going on in the world below him. Beware as to who you speak your mind to, because you never know who's listening and trust me, they are! There is poor communication between departments and even though we all work for the same company, people seem to be working towards their own agenda. There is rampant favoritism and brown nosing happening and if you have the right manager, that will get you way farther than you deserve!

Advice to Management

Your business is nothing without your people. Happy employees yields a successful business, which means more money for you and everyone else. So if you want to grow your business, focus on the people who come to work everyday who will ultimately make that growth possible.

    Pros

Great benefits and you're not micromanaged

    Cons

Back orders are a big issue

    Advice to Management

Continue to not micromanage and do not rely on salesforce.com as a measure for success. Let the employees spend time with the customer as opposed to doing reports.

IT lacks good leadership. Company promotes "It's all about People" but it's really all about management.

    Pros

Able to work from home at least once a week.
    Peers are usually nice.
Paid training (at least for our group).

    Cons

Advancement Opportunities are usually taken by permanent contractors.
Pay is about 20% less than what it should be for equal positions elsewhere.
Company going on second year without Merit increases but we are hiring lots of contractors and our profits look good to investors!
Benefits (medical/dental/Vision) are below average. You'll need Co Insurance.
PTO is 2 weeks for beginners, which includes Sick days. that's right, no separate Sick time off.
Management (all levels especially IT Senior) are not effective in promoting or building employees to succeed or advance.
The "It's all about people." philosophy is heard but not seen.
Management style is tyrannical, "My Way or the Highway" style and intimidation.

    Advice to Management

Inform staff of what's going on.
There are better ways of managing people that are more effective and create inviting work environments.
Follow the employee guidelines of the company instead of inventing what suits the needs of the department.
Nourish, promote and reward those deserving from within to create opportunities for all. Not just those that are yes men and fit in with your click.
