I have been working at Teleflex full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Most co-workers are very nice, knowledgeable, and work hard.
Schedule is somewhat flexible even for manufacturing personnel.
Additional training and education is available if you're willing to take the initiative, it's not typically offered, one has to inquire.
Vacation time is accrued quickly, 4 weeks at 5 years.

Cons

Re-orgs seem to be the norm. Usually resulting in layoffs or firings.
Compensation is not competitive compared to similar companies.
Compensation within the company is not very fair, same positions/responsibilities can have significant differences between salaries.
Tenure and experience seem to be liabilities, often the ones with the most are the first to go.
Poor communication between facilities, management and employees, and between departments.
Lack of leadership. Plants bicker about trivial costs instead of looking at the whole picture of the company.
Upper management claims to want to attract and retain top talent, but does almost the exact opposite in practice.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Three words; transparency, accountability, teamwork.
Be more transparent on strategic goals and initiatives and what they mean to each plant and individual employees, foster communication between management and employees.
Hold employees at all levels accountable for their work. Offer better incentives for performers and seek the cause for poor performance first then offer constructive improvement ideas before the pink slip.
Lastly, promote teamwork and a "company" attitude rather than the competitive finger-pointing that occurs between plants and departments today.

    Pros

    Some well established brands. Good training program. They prefer b2b background rather than a sales background.

    Cons

    Current management are Ethicon and Covidien wannabees. Little or no innovation. Management is more concerned about their own careers and there is little concern for the end customers...big price increases passed onto customers during the past two years which makes management look good in the short term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Instead of trying to be the "next Ethicon" take advantage of the smaller company concept of bringing interesting products to market and putting the customer interest first rather than your own career interest. Customers are tired of the "dull" Ethicon copycat formats. Keep your staff in place longer than 1 to 2 years.

    Employees you are constantly reminded you are nothing but a number to them. Managed via the buddy system....

    Pros

    clean enviroment to work in

    Cons

    Over worked and under paid
    Disrespect to employees by management
    Your work ethic doesn't count for much and honesty will get you critized by management.
    It is who you know not what you know in this facility....
    More football stories from management instead of business related information.
    You get talked at instead of too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Learn to appreciate your dedicated, loyal employees, value work ethic and honesty.
    Be honest with the employees.
    Realize they are people with families too.
    You best ideas come form the ones that do the grunt work...
