I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Work, life balance generally good e.g. - teleworking.
    - Progressive and supportive company values
    - Fringe benefits. e.g. - discounted telecommunincations services

    Cons

    - Big company syndrome - too many approvals needed for simple tasks.
     - Disconnect between senior front line staff & senior management. Disconnect caused by 'obfuscating' middle management, smiling at those above while turmoil exists below.
     - Inadequate full disclosure whenever restructures occur.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your front line, band 2 staff, and team leaders more. Middle management (Band 1 & 2 people managers) too often disguise the full truth to senior management, masking the realities to achieve their short term KPI's.

I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Lots of customers means large budgets and big problems to solve with them.

The company follows through with it's statements on flexible working and worklife balance.

    Cons

Difficult to get things done. The usual big company problems.

Still a bit of dead wood in the organisation from the "old days".

Limited opportunities for advancement out of middle management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow through with the commitment to promote internally.
