Pros

Tenable has been an excellent company to work for with a friendly environment for a company that's growing very quickly. They have a market-leading product and a decent training program. I have never been denied new opportunities with Tenable and have found that they tend to reward hard work and innovation without rewarding incompetence. Tenable has been very open to sharing their profits with employees, which has encouraged loyalty.

Cons

Communication from the C-levels is great, but between departments can be lacking.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management and skilled employees should be encouraged to make more weighty decisions, even if they make mistakes occasionally.

    Pros

Joined Tenable in 2014 along with a raft of other new starters. Great technology, interesting opportunity and awesome people. Great community feel as well, been out out quite a few social gatherings already since joining.

    Cons

Not hit any major issues yet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lose the small company culture as we grow. Invest in staff through training and listen to the opinions of the employees, you hired lots of intelligent people for a reason.

I have been working at Tenable Network Security full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Quiet, professional, no-nonsense. The workplace is optimized for, and respectful of, WORK: there are no dogs running around, employees don't bring in their squalling children, people who listen to music do so via headphones, and there are no Nerf guns on the premises.

Payroll/benefits get their job done. IT doesn't prevent work. HR is blessedly low-profile, maybe because it's a private company. The offer letter was a single page, and paperwork has been similarly minimal there on out.

4% 401(k) matching is a damn good benefit! There's a year-end bonus, but that is nondeterministic and folks don't gossip enough to provide a sample for even a rule of thumb. Apart from PTO, you get 2 make-your-own-holiday flex days off.

Flexible hours. Few meetings. Management is unobtrusive: it's rather refreshing to not be bombarded with policies / restructurings / initiatives / "company values" announcements.

Cubicles are on the large side, widely spaced, and have 6' walls.

The company doesn't have more money than it knows what to do with.

    Cons

Quality/motivation of engineers (including, surprisingly, some at team lead level) varies: some are perhaps more laid-back than ideal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just keep doing what you're doing, and keep *not* doing the many various stupid / wasteful / risible / annoying things other companies do.
