Pros

Lots of money spent to train people. They have lots of fun things for the junior level folks to do.

Cons

Senior level folks who are busier and who have families are made to feel like outsiders and are punished for not drinking at happy hours, even if they might be challenged when it comes to alcohol dependency.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time helping your senior level staff find a work/life balance.

Excellent starting point for recent grads, value decreases as career progresses

    Pros

Terpsys offered the best individual training opportunities, hands-down, of any company I have ever worked for. It offers a potentially positive culture for fresh college grads, especially those without a social network who may be new to the area. great healthcare coverage package - Excellent bonuses, and salary growth (though base salaries are low). Truthful communication about the direction of the company.

    Cons

There is limited opportunity for advancement beyond junior levels. Collegial atmosphere balances on cult-like and can be suffocating for those with a family life to balance. Employees are encouraged to hero-worship the owner and required to create multimedia tributes to him, which are shown during meetings. No telecommuting is allowed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help employees to focus more on how their career needs can match-up with Terpsys' goals and less on buying-in to the cult-like atmosphere.

    Too much "Corporate Culture"

    Pros

Decent benefits, mostly the time off. The company is generous with "swag" - such as uniform shirts, tshirts, and anything with the company logo.

    Cons

Forced attendance to extracurricular activities, which a good portion of your company bonus is based on. Promotion opportunities are not announced, just given to favored individuals and suddenly you hear that you have a new manager or lead person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TerpSys needs to change and grow as they get more and more employees. There seems to be alot of over-emphasis on people who have been with the company since it's inception or around that time; if you didn't start then, or have a multiple year history with them, then you don't fit in - which can be disheartening for the newer individuals.
