I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital

Pros

Great medical staff and coworkers

Cons

Lack of career advancement and growth

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communications, better support of employees, and clear vision. Overall vision of goals is communicated well by senior leadership. There is entirely too much politics and silo thinking amoungst middle management. The lack of vision is problematic of middle management.

I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital

    Pros

Brand recognition in the region, growth opportunity and advancement ability for nurses. The ability to offer many avenues of practice for staff nurses regardless of seniority. Focus on talent selection.

    Cons

Leadership development, educational curve among leaders with respect toward younger work force, growth speed. Human Resources department is plagued with bad process in talent selection -- not all of the good candidates are screened appropriately.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on talented nurses that are striving to make a difference. Focus on males in nursing for senior nursing leadership roles. Push the CNO and senior nurse leaders to focus on diversity in nursing leadership across all levels of nursing -- inpatient and outpatient.

I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital

    Pros

The best resasons to work for Texas Childrens Hospital is employment, as long as you do an average job or better you should have no prolems remaining employed. There appears to be no layoffs in this industry.

    Cons

the down sides to working at Texas Childrens Hospital is the parking and pay. The parking wiil cost you about 6 dollars a day and you still have to walk a ways to get to TCH. The Pay is not that great when compared to other industries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The advice I would give to senior management is to provide positive reenforcement rather than negitive reforcement.
