    I worked at Texas Health and Human Services Commission full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great benefits, great co-workers, holidays off. There's retirement, 491k, and they try to work when your of family member is sick.

    Cons

    They agency has unrealistic expectations of the work load. They want you to make deadlines in very short term and the clients feel entitled and want everything done their way. Too much work and the new people feel overwhelmed with all the work and most quit within a year. When someone is not there their work becomes yours - on top of your stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The hire ups- not immediate supervisors- don't seem to care about he workers that's why they have such a high turn-over rate . my advice work on employee retention and reward those that do a great job .

    I have been working at Texas Health and Human Services Commission full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    helping citizens of TX; helping those in my community; providing people with other resources other than just the programs of HHSC that they might not otherwise know about

    Cons

    management is poor; many TWA III's are not competent for their duties; moral in the workplace is poor; pay is not competitive; many TWA's are calloused; have to sit by and watch misuse and abuse of the welfare system to get "numbers" (certifications);

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    lower level mgmt. needs to take on the attitude of Sr Mgmt; remember what it was like to be a TWA; get your unit to be a TEAM, then BE A PART OF THAT TEAM; CARE about the turnover rate
