I have been working at Texas Instruments full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people work here. There is also some degree of flexibility on your schedule. The benefits are generally good. One nice perk is that if you are in a high enough job grade you can earn not only bonus but profit sharing as well.

    Cons

Resourcing is too tight, goals too broad. If you could focus on a few things it would be tolerable, but you get stretched so thin. Frequent re-orgs also mean that there's a lack of accountability. And finally, no one can do anything that costs money (unless you are in sales, presumably). It all leads to a very constrained environment with lots of little chiefs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit treating the company as a collection of "startups" -- it leads to infighting and sub-optimal decision making. Drive more discipline through means other than the budget alone.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Big company. Good health insurance. Do not need to dress up. A good place for a young engineer to start a career.

    Cons

Big company. Lack of innovative. Need at least a few corporate managers who are real engineers. Need to treat engineers better.
