I have been working at Texas Instruments

Pros

People are very nice and willing to teach you.
Very flexible environment.
Good incentives and reasonable perks.
Excellent work-life balance.

Cons

Lack of long term vision.
Lack of engineers at top management.
Image of a gigantic conservative company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be willing to take on riskier ventures.
Do not let go of talented employees. Too many reorgs and firing will not make for a good environment for innovation.
If there is competition in a market instead of quickly shutting down the business, try to compete and keep hold of the market.
Think of selling software, services and systems level solution. Do not pigeon hole yourself into a single type of business model and only selling chips. Profit margins could be higher if software etc.. were to be charged as well and will also make software engineers feel more valuable to the company.

I have been working at Texas Instruments full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

TI values employee retention and there are many opportunities within such a large company. The pay is comparable to other companies in the industry. TI also places value on work-life balance and offers many flexible options.

    Cons

Recent company performance has led to some downsizing and employee morale was affected. Cost cutting has also affected some of the perks previously provided to employees.

I worked at Texas Instruments full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fair pay and benefits. tend to have products in growth areas so there is always something to learn or be excited about. Many travel opportunities.

    Cons

A lot of meetings. Seemingly drastic business decisions resulting in sale or termination of large groups. Consequently, it felt like a rather cutthroat environment. Slight image problem: most people don't know where what they produce besides calculators.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More transparency.
