    Pros

TI is one of the very few IC companies left that has their own fabs. They compete in some pretty interesting markets, such as automotive, audio, and many many other applications. If you tell people you work at TI, almost everyone will recognize the name -- albeit because of their calculators, which is actually a very tiny part of the overall company. But you can work on interesting projects and technologies here. Compensation is very fair and they have company wide profit sharing, with everyone getting the same size (as a percentage of salary) bonus.

    Cons

Its difficult to break into upper management, and many of the people making it to upper management only last a few years before being demoted or pushed out. I work in software development for a hardware company, and that is a second class position even though software is critical to their success. They don't really understand software development very well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Software development needs to be overhauled from top to bottom. They need a real software guy at the VP level to drive it all.
