I have been working at Texas Wesleyan University

    Pros

Stress-free environment. 4-day work week during the summer. Lots of holidays.

    Cons

Lots of read tape, bureaucracy and politics. Senior management are clueless on IT and are reluctant to delegate and empower an IT leader. Low pay compared to virtually anywhere else, including other education institutions.

    Advice to Management

Hire, support and empower an IT leader reporting directly to the president.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Family like feel among the employees, lots of paid time off, perfect for those with a family themselves. A place that changes lives. Support from your management and team is felt.

    Cons

More opportunities to move up, small campus, so it's easy to be in your position for a long time (which can be viewed good or bad).

    Advice to Management

Activities for different departments to interact and get to know each other more (personally). Create additional senior or "upper" job opportunities that employees can strive for.
