I worked at Texas Workforce Commission

Pros

Working with various types of people that need your help is a definite pro.
Good benefit package is a definite pro.

Cons

Terrible IT department and computers are antiques.
Management most of the time has no idea what they are doing (although some of the managers are ok.)
Some of the staff that has been employed for a long time get away with anything, and when they are reported for something it's just a slap on the hand and nothing ever changes.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

TWC needs to quit playing favorites, look at the people that are getting the job done and advance those people. If you continue to do the same things as you have in the past you will have the same results.

    Pros

Hours are 8-5, allowing for life after work; work is fast-paced, especially in this economy; opportunity to meet many people from all walks of life and provide information useful in their job search.

    Cons

Even though salaried, not able to come in early and work late to ramp up for projects for which one is newly assigned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At times, the various organizations which within the Workforce Solutions arena seem to have differing agendas and work at cross purposes.
