I worked at The Art Institutes full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Many of the students are motivated, but many are not

Cons

The school became more about the paperwork than the people work

Advice to Management

Listen to the people working for you; it is not all about money.

I have been working at The Art Institutes full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity to meet a lot of creative students and work with a dynamic group of people. Good sales experience can lead to opening doors later on. Benefits are good, 401k match is extremely good.

    Cons

High tuition and little institutional aid makes recruiting some of the most qualified students difficult, if impossible. Metrics managed at a corporate level are unrealistic. The idea of hiring more people to make up for declining numbers isn't working. Compensation has changed over the last several years.

    Advice to Management

Try to be more proactive rather than reactive. The proprietary education landscape as a whole is in a decline, a better focus on hiring the right people and doing the right thing by the RIGHT student will pay dividends in the long run.
