Salary is great for what you do. Family environment among coworkers. Pretty good benefit package. Ongoing training for all position. Ability to apply and work de sister companies

    Cons

Managers all micro manage. They promote based upon who they Luke and not who does a good job. Layoffs are inevitable and managers don't inform people of changes until its top late

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

PROMOTE those who do a good job not because of tenure or because they are brown noseing . Take time to listen to your emoloyees

I have been working at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

    Pros

    Smart co-workers
Fun job, get to use creative skills
Good location if you use public transit
Good position to collect a lot of examples of your work for your resume
    Casual dress code, environment

    Cons

    Management highly incompetent
Little turnover management-wise, despite their lack of performance
    Poor communication with staff
Show personal vendettas against certain employees
    Poor news judgment
Managers only care about saving their own jobs, not doing what is best for their staff.
    A drink-the-kool-aid atmosphere prevails.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest about issues that need addressing.
Be more inclusive on major decisions that impact staff.
Fire middle managers that are just treading water and offer no value to the company.
