I worked at The Boston Globe full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Good work/life balance. Cheap gym in the building. Decent cafeteria. Some friendly people.

    Cons

Cold. Sad. A culture of people that get off on how "professional" they are. A giant company that moves slowly and is struggling with how to survive in a world where their bread and butter (physical papers) are all but obsolete. Their web development personelle are great, but constantly over-burdened and pulled in a million directions by the array of managers and stakeholders.

In general I felt very small and unimportant there. Senior leadership was a complete mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many managers and too much hierarchy.

I have been working at The Boston Globe full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were terrific, but management was horrific. I imagine they will be all digital soon. Good riddance.

    Cons

Editors asked us to change quotes and alter facts on a regular basis. A terrible place to work. I wish them the worst going forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.
