I have been working at The Bridgespan Group full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Smart, articulate group of people working on challenging projects for interesting clients. It's great to be in a place that puts leadership principles from folks like Jim Collins, Steven Covey etc to work. The group is big enough to tackle interesting challenges and still small enough to have a strong, positive culture

Cons

Very consulting focused. While that's fine for most situations, the lack of operational awareness and understanding can be an obstacle to running the actual business

I have been working at The Bridgespan Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Incredibly intelligent and driven coworkers, client focused management and the projects were not only challenging but helping solve critical social issues. Company culture shines through by providing a very accepting, comfortable work environment.

    Cons

Slow work environment with a bad work / life balance. Some partners were a bit checked out and more focused on business development instead of quality of work.

    Advice to Management

I would hope that management understands that there needs to be more a work / life balance and that many consultants are going way above and beyond to get things done by the arbitrary deadlines set by partners and managers.

  2. Great people, great clients, work can get tedious at times

    Pros

The fellow employees are fantastic - really friendly, smart, motivated. The clients Bridgespan works with are really interesting, high-performing nonprofits, and Bridgespan helps them achieve great outcomes.

    Cons

At more junior levels, there is a lot of focus on detail-oriented work like making Excel models and PowerPoint slides, and a lot of oversight from managers. At times the analysis can feel too academic and removed from the issues of the nonprofits Bridgespan serves.

    Advice to Management

Bridgespan is a great place to work and has the potential to be even greater. I would like to see the organization make a concerted effort to help employees manage a tough work/life balance. In addition, leadership should continue to build a company culture in which all employees are valued.
