I have been working at The British Army full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Great opportunities for personal development both physically and mentally. You will get to work with some of the best people in the world who have all undergone a selection process to get in!

Cons

The British Army can at times take you away from your friends and family for extended periods. You will be asked to accept a high level of risk, which could be life threatening. There are periods that can often be boring as well as excitement. You have to accept the highs and the lows equally.

Former Employee - Information Systems Engineer in Hereford, England (UK)

I worked at The British Army full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Travel all over the world, see places you never thought you'd see. Do thing you never thought you'd do. Get a reasonable salary with very little overheads (until you get married). Get paid to do things other people pay thousands for.

    Cons

Sometimes you'll get treated like a child. You'll do some REALLY c**p jobs. You'll learn how to sweep anywhere, get things really clean, and you'll get really good at painting things that really don't need to be painted (grass, kerbstones etc). People will shout at you. A lot. Sometimes for very little reason

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Where possible, for goodness sake treat the guys on the ground with a bit of respect. They're not all the lowest common denominator.
