Pros

Decent employee discount. Great benefits. Great amount of PTO/Sick days plus Comp days. Lots of growth and opportunities at this company. Very flexible with scheduling as well as great management. A fast-paced working environment...we do it all: floorsets, selling, shipment, cleaning, windows etc. Smaller team of associates which helps with open communication. Lots of company incentive programs to win money for your store.

Cons

PAYROLL: Yes, everyone gripes about it because there just isn't ever enough given. To those of you who are retail associates, you will get maybe 15 hours a week MAX (If you are lucky). Management normally gets most the hours because they are required to have a minimum set hours weekly. There is not much training for the new recruits only because again payroll doesn't permit. With upper management changing, contradicting views set in and make it difficult to make heads or tails of things. Patience is definitely needed during the heavy times with no payroll as well as with the extreme demands for tasks to be completed ASAP.

Advice to Management

To the upper management (DM's and RD's): pay attention to the needs of your higher volume stores that reach out for your help. To whoever distributes payroll: rethink the scale. If payroll was based off of sales plan, then make sure you compensate those who are getting ripped off. For instance: there were two store's who's sales plan was $45,000: one store was given 178 (Base) hours to run the store with and the other was given 370 hours. If hours are distributed unevenly, reach out to your DM's/RD's and have them shift hours from store to store.

    Pros

The best part of this job is the 30% discount. It was also nice working with children and the customers were friendly for the most part. The hours were flexible when you received any.

    Cons

Extremely poor management. My store manager was like a tyrant. Her way or the highway. She'd stress loss prevention and company rules but wouldn't follow them herself. The store was always trashed so closing would be hard. You'd have to rush to get things in decent order in a timely manner because there were never any hours. Corporate expects way too much from their employees. Constant change in the store with lack of hours called for high demands and stress on employees. The store receives shipment every few days and there's never enough time to process and get everything out on the floor. It's unrealistic and definitely isn't worth $8/hr.

    Advice to Management

Hire professional Store Managers and Assistant Mangers! There are many incompetent managers just scraping their way along. If you want a well maintained store, give more hours, and pay a little more.

    Pros

Depending on the team you have, it could be fun. The discount was awesome (30%). I really can't think of anything else.

    Cons

Only schedules 2 people at a time, yet expects those 2 people to get a GIANT workload done; All the while trying to deal with shipment, paperwork, and customer service. We can't realistically be expected to process boxes upon boxes of merchandise AND greet every customer, ring people up, try to give out blue bags, etc. It's just not all going to happen. Also, the politics of the place are insane. Don't ever get on anyone's bad side for even a second there, or you will be forced out.

    Advice to Management

Hire more associates and schedule 3 or 4 people at a time. The place is run terribly!
