Nice place for local, seasonal sales employment

Former Employee - Seasonal Sales Associate in Ridgewood, NJ

I worked at The Gap (less than a year)

Pros

Always busy, get to handle nice clothes, mean employee discount

Cons

Always on feet, easy to get tired after a long day. Customers can be demanding. Display maintenance is both difficult and tedious.

I worked at The Gap part-time

    Pros

The retail side of Gap offers flexible hours and a good discount. Management was professional, fair, and put in their fair share of work.

    Cons

Expect to stay late if you are closing the store. This was expected, as it is working retail. A good deal of pressure was put on "selling" their credit card. Understandable, but in my eyes, a downside from the job.

I worked at The Gap part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -The employee discount
-Your availability and scheduling (very flexible for college students or second jobs--which you'll need)

    Cons

-The hours: If you work in a smaller store, you could go weeks without getting scheduled. The company's structure for hours is all about store and overall company performance. Socialism is the best way to describe it. Everyone suffers together or succeeds together. No one if favored or better than anyone else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Many managers play favorites to the point it effects the associates who get scheduled more or have it easier.
