I have been working at The Gap

Pros

Work-life balance, team collaboration and camaraderie.

Cons

Easier to advance within online than bricks/mortars channel. However, you have to prove yourself at a lower grade/level in order to move up within the organization. That said, there are a lot tenured and overqualified employees at their level.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Truly assess the experience and hard work of individuals and reward/promote accordingly. Or at least give credit (praise) where credit is due.

    I worked at The Gap

    Pros

The pople are great but it is like working with siblings.
The discount is great and so is the product
After getting a promotion many doors open up for you

    Cons

The customers aren't always nice and think they don't have to abide by the policies
    The employees are like siblings
    Fighting for hours
Everyone is not willing to keep the store standards in mind and with closer inspection it is really obvious

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treating all employees the same is a much better way to get results than to have the favorite employees treated better and given more hours. It is also important to train the new employees so that they know what to expect and what is expected of them rather than having them guess.
