disappointing- there was a time when this company was good to work for, but it has gone downhill.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

benefits (particularly pto), busy work environment (day goes by quickly), decent people (when i was there), multiple shifts were available, they covered your licensing.

    Cons

location (unless you reside in east san diego county), relatively low pay for workload, unrealistic work expectations (metrics always increasing, human element is not factored in fairly), their micromanagement can be unbearable, they tend to treat employees like children and motivate/ reward them accordingly (and their idea of a fun work environment can be juvenile), like with most companies office politics are prevalent (so unless you "play the game," you won't be there long), not much room for professional growth or merit increases, the company has changed a lot over the recent years due to restructuring (not good if you are looking to make this a stable, lucrative career), clientele is the aarp insurance program- so be prepared to deal with cranky seniors that just don't understand why aarp is allowing the hartford to squeeze them. finally, when you part ways with them, no matter how great of an employee you were, they have a "no reference" policy, not allowing their management to provide professional references- so you have to use a third party company as your work reference, and they only verify employment.

    I worked at The Hartford

    Pros

The compensation is good, and the camaraderie among employees is great. The schedules can be flexible, depending on your department. The cafeteria is nice.

    Cons

Your every minute is micromanaged. You have "Efficiency Experts" who know nothing about quality service telling you how to do your job. If you like assembly-line, flow-chart service with no real freedom to go above or beyond for a customer, this is the place for you.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Approves of CEO
