I worked at The Hartford full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent coworkers that create a great environment, everyone looks out for each other. Building in excellent conditions with ample parking and helpful security staff. Pay is above most customer service jobs, but average for call center. Several weeks of training prepare you for most of what you encounter on a normal work day.

    Cons

Metrics, metrics, metrics. Take a few seconds more per call than you should, or a few seconds after a call to make sure you processed a customers request correctly, and you can get a talk about it or maybe even fired. Some phone calls require more attention than others (a passing a of a loved one, or an increase in premium because of any number of reasons), and the focus is mostly on getting them off the phone than actually helping a customer. Call center work is stressful, but metrics could be less strict to be able to actually help customers versus just doing the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up on the demands of the job by hiring more people. Lower expectations on metrics and allow employees more time to actually help customers would go a long way to keep more employees.

I have been working at The Hartford full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Well know and well respected place to work. The Hartford Army as it know in the field.

    Cons

The Hartford on the West coast in my 5 years had 3 managers, and a year without a manager. Not good. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees a competitive salary
