I worked at The Hartford full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

I had some great moments with The Hartford; when the company was willing to take some risks there was a great chance to innovate. The sales force (esp mutual funds and annuities) were top-notch.

Cons

Senior management lacks vision and recently has been guided more by activist shareholders than real strategy. People who are lazy and refuse to take accountability can hide in the ranks. The performance review systems is a joke.

    Pros

Ability to learn many new systems and skills when working on projects. Flexibility in hours is usually not an issue as long as target dates met.

    Cons

Becoming very rigid and building multiple levels of management (a manager to manage a manager). Employees are taught to look better than their co-workers to succeed, which creates a back-stabbing "I'm out for me" environment.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great standard vacation packages, which increase quickly with tenure. Fantastic set of coworkers (at least, in my office). I made several friends which I still have today, years after I left the company.

    Cons

Little to no work/life balance. Dictatorial upper middle-management, with egos the size of Alaska. A little bit low for market value on salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Simply realize that you were a proletariat once too...
