Pros

The people. Every employee that I have come in contact with from day 1 of the interview process has just been incredible. The people at this company have a passion for their work like I have never seen before. And there's also a sense of humility no matter how high you go up the corporate ladder. Senior leaders of this company have been in your shoes, and it's clear that they never let themselves forget it. They constantly want what is best for you and your career's advancement. It's also cool to tell people you work for Hershey's, which never fails to light up that big kid inside of them.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations. High expectations are a good thing, but the pressure that comes with the number of things management places on your to-do list often leaves little time for a life outside of work.

Training. I was hired into the company during a management transition, and was trained by a non-management employee, who soon left the company. By the time the new manager transitioned into his role, I was 2 months into the job, wondering what I should really be doing day to day. Their idea of training is basically get out there and sink or swim.

Advice to Management

Remember to never lose sight of the fact that your employees need to have a life outside of Hershey's.

    Pros

There are great people and an environment, in place , that promotes team-building and offers you the tools to succeed. The management was supportive and accessible People are willing to slow down to allow for a rookie's learning curve.

    Cons

If you are in a position to come in as a temporary, then your chances of being hired on permanently are greatly diminished. There were people in the Memphis,TN location that have been working for 5 years , without any raises or benefits.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to evaluate the people who are employed as temps and are CURRENTLY doing the jobs for which you are seeking to hire from the outside. That's TRUE equal opportunity employment.

    Pros

Flexible hours, good coworkers, amazing talent. This is probably the best cpg sales job out there. Senior management will fly in for retail meetings. You will also get a chance to go to Hershey for a week. You have a clear direction for the company and have a transparency along with openness and candor that is rare in other companies.

    Cons

This is no longer a sales job. The product has been so successful in the last 6 years that almost all product is sold into the stores at higher levels. Unless you have independent food accounts, you will only be informing stores of what programming is in place and what will be sent to the store.

    Advice to Management

Find a way for RSR's to continue to do actual sales work as well. Otherwise, they will not be ready to do actual sales work in the future. Also, give more feedback for people interviewing. If they don't get the position, let them really know why. Don't worry so much about feelings. Ambiguity will not help anyone.
