Former Employee - Cant Say
Former Employee - Cant Say

I worked at The Hillman Group full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

medical, life, dental, vision, disability are average. 401 Ok but no profit sharing in over 10 years.

Cons

after over 15 years we parted ways, problems on both parts. Figure something after all those years of working 6 days a week, nights for below industry wages and doing more than competitors require of thier employees in same position. NOTHING. NOT A DIME. not even a packet on how to continue insurance, what to do with 401k, etc. Just heres your final check ON A DEBIT CARD that cost me $6 to get my final paycheck. A real slap in the face. They burned a bridge here.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

start treating laid off, fired employees like human beings. we have bills, rent etc and years history with your company. but you dont care because you are a large company and are "Above" employees. They all can be replaced i was told once.

I have been working at The Hillman Group

    Pros

Good people - really good people
Sincere and fair in compensation, praise, etc.
Probably the most genuine executive team you'll ever have
Good identification of short term strategies

    Cons

Genuine and fair but not adapting with times
Still runs like a small company (good for feel) but in reality is a pretty large co.
    dysfunctional flow chart of heirarchy.
Poor executiion of long term strategy because of above. Exec team is not accountable for driving objectives.

This is constructive criticism. I would always say that this is a good company to work for and I have never felt in over a decade that I was not treated fairly or felt disrespected

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Love these guys, but we need to evolve into the large company that we've become.
