I worked at The Home Depot part-time (more than a year)

Pros

Awesome co-workers, great management, independent type work, pretty decent benefits -- 401k , profit sharing, health and dental even with part timers

Cons

The hours were pretty terrible that I had to work. My shift was 330am - 8am then it switched to 3am - noon ( 1 hour lunch break at 8am ) the pay was pretty darn low especially considering the hours I had to work. Even though they told me it was a part time deal they had me at full time for almost a year, saying they would hire 2 more people and bump me back down to part time.... I did the work that those 3 people "were supposed to be doing" and eventually I left because they were going to bump my hours down and were unwilling to negotiate a change of departments, a raise, or change of hours. DUE to corporates policies. The managers even called around to beg them to rehire me above $10 an hour but they wouldn't do it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Negotiate with good employees to keep them happy and tend to their needs instead of treating everyone as though they are disposable.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I love the customers, my fellow employees and the supervisors. I am a cashier and honestly love my job!

    Cons

PT employees limited to 29 hours a week. Additional training very hard to access under limited hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company needs to revisit the law pertaining to PT limited hours. PT employees should not be effected as ALL employees are offered benefits after 90 days of employment with Home Depot. Also management under each store needs to be more uniformed, each has their own mgmt style. Where one says no another says yes. This is very confusing for employees.
