I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Great atmosphere, employees are treated with respect, good place to work, encouragement to move up

Cons

Low pay, hour distribution is bad...I work a lot of 4 hour days. It would be better if it was 3 full days instead of 5 half days.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more full days instead of many short days

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Entry level sales experience; understanding name brands and how to pitch them; pay is better than most big box retailers

    Cons

Lack of associates/help; lots of secret shoppers; training, training, and more training

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management wants you to know/have knowledge in regards to all of your neighboring departments. Therefor, when someone calls off or takes a lunch, you are juggling 2-3 departments. I hear that heavy bonuses are given to managers if hours are cut and the store makes do without being properly staffed. Its unfair and selfish when more is added to your plate and you aren't the one collecting a bonus check for your all of your hard work. We have the clientele and foot traffic to bring in the numbers; so please hire more employees to better serve them.
